UAE’s reading campaign will not only nurture the minds of children but help them emerge as good global citizens

18:47 June 11, 2016 The recent decision taken by the UAE under its ‘Reading Nation’ campaign to provide five million books to the world in order to educate children is highly appreciable. It is a great service to humanity, indeed. Books are not only our best friends, they are our teachers and our mentors, too. Books enlighten us and eliminates our ignorance. Reading is something that cannot only help people in an educational way, it can also help shape your personality.Books teach people about things that might not be taught in schools, which is why most educationists and teachers try to enforce the habit of reading among children. In order to stimulate and cultivate the habit of reading in children, it is necessary that they observe their parents reading on a regular basis.
What we read is not important, rather the fact that they see you reading. When your child sees you reading cookbooks, magazines, newspapers, fictional novels, telephone directories and other reading materials, it will definitely reinforce the importance of reading in his or her tender mind.
Needless to mention, the benefits of reading books are immense as it boosts analytical skills, increases vocabulary, improves writing skills and memory. Reading is also a great escape from the stress that people face on a daily basis. The knowledge and wisdom imparted to children through books and UAE’s reading campaign will not only nurture the minds of children but help them emerge as good global citizens. The love of reading is the single most important gift a parent can give to his or her child.
